Green Shirts and Pink Laces

Not only were the Highlanders sporting bright green shirts when they met the Blues at Eden Park last weekend, they also had pink laces in their boots.

The laces were part of a fundraising initiative to help raise money for the Pink Pilates Programme, a specialized programme designed to help women diagnosed with cancer on their path to recovery.

Working in conjunction with both Team Pink Pilates and Back In Motion Physiotherapy, all 22 pairs of the pink laces, (designed to symbolize women taking the first step on the road to recovery), worn in Saturday’s match were listed on TradeMe, with all proceeds going directly to the Programme.

For the record the Highlanders were triumphant in their colourful kit, running out 27-20 victors.
