Rugby Union continues to grow in popularity in Notrh America as the country is exposed to a sport which is as physcially confrontational as the NFL, yet features players who wear very little protective clothing. In Canada, British Colombia is a rugby stronghold, and the Canadians have a rich history which includes a quarter final appearance at the 1991 World Cup, while the USA have excelled at Sevens in recent times. Here, the increasing public awareness of the game continues to draw a diverse range of sportspeople, including former American Football players and a host of highly talented female athletes, who have helped make the USA a genuine force on the world stage of Women's Rugby.
