Beauden Barrett’s Predator Incurzas
Young All Black pivot Beauden Barrett reverted back to the adidas Predator Incurzas he wore in his test debut as he helped guide the Hurricanes to victory over the Chiefs in the final round of the Super XV.
Although it wasn’t the up-and-coming star’s greatest performance his two successful penalty shots, and two conversions were instrumental in the ‘Canes upsetting the competition leaders, winning 28-25 with a controversial try on the buzzer.
The highly recognisable boots, with bold royal blue and lime green highlights, are proving to be hugely popular, particularly with players who are required to kick often.
With two specific areas on the boot, the ‘Precision Zone’ and the ‘Sweet Spot’ developed to help kicking accuracy and power, the Incurzas (the latest instalment in adidas’ iconic range of ‘Predator’ boots), were the boot of choice for Dan Carter, Aaron Cruden and Barrett in the All Blacks’ whitewash of the Irish in the recent test series, and while Barrett briefly reverted back to his old Predator RX’s it didn’t take him long to get the Incurzas back on, in time for a last ditch attempt to keep the Hurricanes’ season alive.
Barrett, a product of the New Zealand Under-20 side, has been one of the stand-outs in the New Zealand Super XV conference in 2012, with his form appropriately rewarded when he replaced Aaron Cruden against the Irish.
