Courtney Lawes Joins The adidas Stable

Abrasive English forward Courtney Lawes is the latest player to join adidas’ stable of international rugby players, signing a new deal which will see him sport the three striped boots for England, and the British and Irish Lions if selected.

Representing the Northampton Saints in the Aviva Premiership, the 6’7” Lawes is an aggressive player, normally used in the second row but versatile enough to cover the blindside flank as well, and, should his impressive early-season form continue, will be one of the names Lions coach Warren Gatland considers when picking his side to tour Australia next year.

Lawes will sport the adidas R15s, a boot designed with input from players such as Richie McCaw, Jerome Kaino, Pierre Spies and James Haskill.

The Taurus leather on the R15 creates a lightweight boot with a natural appearance, while a re-enforced forefoot prevents the shoe from stretching and deforming, allowing it to mould to the unique shape of each individual’s foot.

Underneath, the one-piece soleplate helps decrease the overall weight and adds stability in the process, while interchangeable studs make this a versatile boot perfect for a wide variety of natural surfaces. Designed with loose-forwards and locks in mind, the synthetic print inside the boot prevents heel slippage and enhances comfort, whilst ensuring the wearing can explode in to action when necessary.
