Matt Banahan Switches to Puma Powercat Rugby Boots
Matt Banahan the Bath & England Wing Centre seems to have changed his preference of rugby boots from adidas to Puma. This follows the trend by quite a large number of footballers who have recently made the change to Puma, perhaps rugby players are starting to do the same thing.
Banahan has worn both Adidas Predator RX Rugby Boots and more recently adiZero RS7 Rugby Boots but it would appear has now chosen the Puma Powercat C 1.12 Rugby Boots as his boot of choice. Like the majority of boots now available in the market, the Puma Powercat is known as a football boot but due to the modern manufacturing technology available, it is also suitable for rugby players. Measuring in at 6ft 7 inches and weighing over 18 stone, Matt Banahan requires a strong and solid boot in order to allow him to reach his maximum speed. The colourway, which is white, blue and gold also goes very well with the Bath home strip.
The Bath star is hoping to retain his place in the England Elite Player Squad for the 2012 Six Nations which is announced soon. He will also be looking to make the starting team for the first game against Scotland at Murrayfield on Sunday 5th February. Banahans England career has mainly been from the bench but with the Mike Tindall and Mark Cueto unlikely to be in Stuart Lancasters squad, the Jerseyman will be hoping to secure a place either on the wing or in the centre.

Key Points of the Boots
The boot has a soft K-Leather upper and a lightweight microfiber material in the lateral quarter to support the mid-foot, help keep the weight down, and create a sporty look. The boot also features PUMA PowerLast which offers a stable yet flexible out-sole which in turn creates a more comfortable fit while the asymmetrical external TPU-injected heel counter provides optimal support, stability, and protection against outer forces.
Puma boots are becoming more popular with rugby players at both amateur and professional level, as can be seen with Manu Tuilagi (Leicester Tigers and England) and James O’Connor (Melbourne Rebels and Australia) both wearing the brand.
