Nike Clash seen in Origin Clash
Several key players sported the latest Nike ‘Clash’ range of boots in the second State of Origin clash in Sydney on Wednesday night.
The range, which is also being worn by a number of prominent players in football’s Euro 2012, currently underway in Poland and the Ukraine, features four uniquely designed boots, developed to suit the varying needs of individual players.
White toes combine with distinctive colour splashes for a look which is both dramatic and stylish, and Nike Global Creative Director for Football Footwear, Andrew Caine, believes the ‘clash of traditional white with very modern and youthful colours will make a really powerful and disruptive statement on the pitch”.
The game was a return to the Origin clashes of yester-year, with New South Wales needing to win to keep the series alive. A fierce, physical encounter turned in favour of the homeside midway through the second half when Queensland halfback Cooper Kronk was sinbinned, the Blues scoring twice in the following ten minute period while the Maroons were down to 12 men.
Queensland showed their trademark never-say-die attitude to narrow the deficit to 4 points, but courageous defence from NSW, led by Man of the Match Greg Bird, saw the Blues win 16-12, ensuring the three match series would be decided in three weeks time when the sides meet in Brisbane.
